Stella McCartney does Cuba for Resort

Stella McCartney brought a taste of Cuba to her latest fashion offering.

The British designer unveiled her new Resort collection at a Havana Nights-themed party in New York on Tuesday. While stilt performers and Cuban dancing kept guests including Alexa Chung, Liv Tyler and Alicia Keys entertained, models walked around the gardens showing Stella’s latest wares.

A number of garments featured a deep V neckline while collared shirts and crossover styles were also present. The majority of items included a floral print, in keeping with the resort theme. Poppies were placed on the breast bone or at the waist, with the red of the flower contrasting against the black and navy base colours of the garments.

Oversized maxi dresses were also included in the display, with models wearing shades of yellow, coral and orange. While the necklines were dainty, the fabric soon billowed out into bell-shaped silhouettes for a dramatic flourish through the hedgerows.

In contrast, some of the outfits had a more sports chic appeal, with a navy and white baseball style jacket being one of the prominent pieces.

All the models wore their hair pulled back in a simple low ponytail with a wide side parting, giving the 43-year-old’s range a chic, simple and fresh appeal.

As well as the clothing, accessories were also on display including white handbags of varying sizes which featured colourful edging and a vibrant poppy print on the front. Shoes provided a perfect balance between comfort and style, with star print espadrilles, flatform sandals and built up colourful trainers all featuring in the collection.
