Stella McCartney: Daria Werbowy's got it

Stella McCartney applauds Daria Werbowy's independent spirit.

The model has walked numerous times for Stella's eponymous label, including at her Paris Fashion Week shows.

Unlike many fashion stars, Daria isn't interested in an A-list lifestyle. Instead she lives in Ireland with her carpenter boyfriend and backpacks around India for her vacations.

"We need more independent spirits. Staying true and honest to yourself can be really hard sometimes. It requires a lot of confidence to say no," Stella told Porter magazine.

Famed fashion photographer Mikael Jansson echoes the sentiment.

"Everyone tries so hard in the industry. It's good to see someone doing the opposite," he explained.

Mikael shot Daria for the latest edition of Porter magazine. The 31-year-old stuns on the front cover in a Marc Jacobs dress, featuring large yellow flowers.

In the accompanying photo spread Daria is snapped partaking in a series of physical jobs. She wears a black Tom Ford dress to uncut a wire fence and a white crochet gown by Stella to paint the exterior of a house.

A striking black-and-white photo sees Daria in a sequined Ralph Lauren Collection dress, under the wheels of a car. A backwards cap and grease-stained arms completes the glamorous mechanic vibe. Meanwhile a Dries van Noten dress with black workman boots and gloves is the perfect choice for a spot of street drilling.

"Daria has a modern appeal, because there is a ying and yang to her, masculine and feminine. She is a beautiful girl. But she can hang with the boys," enthused her agent Jen Ramey.
