Stella McCartney checks in at Paris Fashion Week
Stella McCartney’s Paris runway was kept in check with a range of gingham prints in bold colours on Monday morning (05Oct15).
The British designer combined the oversized checks with a sports luxe edge as models headed down the catwalk in dresses featuring a polo-neck T-shirt neckline or racer-back designs.
Red, green and black were all mixed with white to create crisscross checks over maxi dresses, midi skirts and trousers.
As the show progressed, harem pants were paired with strapless pleated tops which featured a curved asymmetric hemline and gentle progression of colour.
This approach was also applied to a number of dresses for a floaty feminine feel. One garment featured three layers, with the top one a black and yellow configuration, while the lower pleats were blue and pale pink.
Stella chose to showcase femininity in a range of different ways during her show. Close-fitting sports-style tops paired with fitted midi skirts contrasted sharply with oversized jackets, sleeveless waistcoats and shirts.
Not all the models kept their shoulders and décolletage covered though. A number wore off-the-shoulder structured long-line tops with oversized trousers.
Volume definitely featured heavily in the collection, with wide-legged trousers, flowing maxi dresses and the layered pleated garments showcasing a range of ways to achieve the look.
The cut of the collection was clearly focused on a longer line, with many models wearing their jackets, waistcoats and strapless tops down to their upper thigh, while dresses also featured a dropped waistline.
Fans of Stella’s previous sheer panelled garments were not disappointed either, as a number of items on the catwalk featured swirling sports mesh cut outs that revealed snippets of flesh.
Paris shows continue throughout Monday, with labels including Giambattista Valli, Hermès and Sonia Rykiel presenting.
