Stella Maxwell: VS casting was scary

Stella Maxwell was terrified when she first auditioned for Victoria's Secret.

The 24-year-old model was confirmed as one of the leading lingerie company's new Angels earlier this year, one of ten women to receive the honour. Even though her career is now soaring, she can still remember how petrified she was when she initially went to meet the brand.

"My first casting for the show, it was memorable. I remember I was really nervous. I just knew I had a limited amount of time to just give my energy and show them what I have to offer," she told vogue.com.au.

A lot has changed since then though, and nowadays Stella feels pretty confident on the catwalk. Even when she's flashing her body in skimpy Victoria's Secrets pieces she doesn't worry too much because she approaches it like an acting job. Having her hair and make-up done helps her get in character, and then it's all about giving her all for the brand.

"When my agent rang me and told me about the promotion to becoming an Angel, I was a bit overwhelmed. I got emotional. It made me really happy. They choose the sexiest girls and they have the sexiest lingerie. You grow up watching it. Every girl’s just amazing, every year. To do it, I couldn’t be happier," she added.

Stella has lived all over the world and she was discovered when she was in New Zealand. She was shopping with a friend when she was approached by a lady saying she ran a modelling agency and would love to talk to her about the industry. The woman seemed relaxed and approachable so Stella went along, and the rest is history.
