Sophia Webster designs London Fashion Weekend tote bag
Sophia Webster has created this season’s London Fashion Weekend bag.
The shoe and accessories designer, who won the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund in March (16), has been selected by the British Fashion Council to design a tote for the consumer event, running from 22-25 September (16).
Her baby pink design features bright blue and purple peacock feathers to give a tropical vibe, with the words ‘London Fashion Weekend’ in block white capitals.
“I am delighted to be partnering with the British Fashion Council for London Fashion Weekend this season," she gushed in a statement. "I can’t wait to unveil the tote in September!"
Sophia’s finished piece was inspired by one of her signature patterns from her Spring/Summer 17 collection, which she will present during Fashion Week next month (16-20Sep16).
Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British Fashion Council, has praised the designer for “capturing British creativity” with her flamboyant design.
"It has been great to work with Sophia on the tote bags for this season and I look forward to seeing them being used all over London and further afield!" Caroline added.
The bags will be given to guests who buy Silver, Gold and Luxe ticket packages for the event. On top of providing the accessory, Sophia will also be taking part in the event’s industry talk alongside the likes of Lucy Choi and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi.
This prestigious post comes after the fashionista launched her first ever handbag line earlier this year (16), which she admitted had been a long time coming.
“I had shoes and accessories in my first collection, and back then, I always saw my line as including both,” she told Vogue.com. “But back then, it was basically just me going back and forth to the factories, and I thought it was better then to focus my attention on shoes. We just didn’t have the infrastructure in place to do both.”
