Soo Joo Park for L’Oréal
Soo Joo Park has been named the first Asian-American face of L’Oréal Paris.
Yesterday, which happened to be Soo Joo's birthday, the beauty brand announced it would be working with the 26-year-old model as its latest ambassador.
It marks a big moment in the industry, which the fashion star is proud to be a part of.
"The thing is that I’m Asian, but I’m also Asian-American. And I think growing up in America and having a multicultural background, you know where you stand but you also want to melt into the pot," she explained to Style.com.
"It’s such an honour, but I also think the world is getting smaller and the globalisation of commerce is influencing industries like beauty and fashion. So to be the first to represent a global brand is a huge honour. But I don’t want to be just that one thing; I want to be the global ambassador."
When the news hit Twitter yesterday, the model was quick to take to her own page and express her delight.
"I'M WORTH IT, YOU'RE WORTH IT, SHE'S WORTH IT...WE'RE ALL WORTH IT! #happymantra #lorealista #bestpresentever (sic)," she wrote.
In her interview with the website, Soo Joo referenced designers Karl Lagerfeld and Azzedine Alaïa, who she respects for casting multiethnic women in her shows.
She also gushed about the "personal relationship" L’Oréal has with all its ambassadors, adding she's delighted to work alongside beauties like Doutzen Kroes and Lara Stone.
Soo Joo also has gigs with Chanel, DKNY and Redken under her belt.
