Salvatore Ferragamo teams with Aquazzura designer
Aquazzura designer Edgardo Osorio is excited to "reinterpret the extraordinary style" of Salvatore Ferragamo with his upcoming capsule collection.
The Italian luxury goods company is marking its 100 year anniversary as a Hollywood favourite, with the label's pieces being sported by A-list royalty such as Joan Crawford and Gloria Swanson, as well as newcomers including Keira Knightley and Nina Dobrev. In honour of this bosses have asked Osorio to create a bespoke line of shoes which will hit stores at the end of November (15).
There will be 12 designs in total, which will all borrow ideas from pieces which have previously been seen in the Salvatore Ferragamo line. "For me it’s an honor to reinterpret the extraordinary style of Salvatore Ferragamo for a new generation of women,” Osorio is quoted as saying by WWD. “This collaboration is very important for me because it marks the first 10 years of my career, which started in Ferragamo at 19: my first job in the world of luxury footwear.”
Among the shoes on offer will be patent pairs, as well as designs in suede, leather and cork. The flourishes the label is renowned for will also feature, so shoe lovers can expect things like lace and feathers.
Salvatore Ferragamo creative director Massimiliano Giornetti is thrilled Osorio agreed to the collaboration, citing his "South American culture" as the perfect fit for what the label wants to achieve. He added the capsule line will be "ironic, playful... and original", while still staying true to the comfort level which is associated with the brand.
Osorio has been a lover of fashion since he was a teenager, when he began interning for labels. When he was 16 he enrolled at the London College of Fashion, but he dropped out in favour of a role as shoes and accessories designer with Salvatore Ferragamo.
