Saint Laurent does effortless grunge-glam

Saint Laurent models rocked grunge-glam at Paris Fashion Week on Monday (05Oct15).

Creative director Hedi Slimane is known for taking the everyday essentials and giving them a luxe edge, as was the case for Spring/Summer 16.

Setting his newest collection apart from previous offerings was the overtly sexy theme, with tiny wisps of nightdresses appearing over and over again. A lacy black see-through number was layered over plain black briefs with a pale blue leather bomber and wellington boots.

A silver mini disco dress was finished with a muted, multicoloured shaggy coat, while a tiny strip of a bra peeked out from under a black blazer and was teamed with sporty shorts and wellies.

A longer take on the nightdress was also showcased in the form of a silky maxi slip with patchwork detail. Sticking with the sensual theme, the thin straps and low cut barely covered the model's breasts.

Deviating from the nightwear was a very wearable pair of short denim dungarees over a thin white vest. A silky pashmina with metallic detail covered the shoulders.

Hair and make-up was pared back to match the effortlessly sexy theme. Faces were left completely natural and hair was largely worn long and loose with a distinct bed-head feel. But adding that twist of glamour was an ironic tiara on every model's head, marking them out as Slimane's punk princesses.

The designer also managed to draw an impressive front row. Model Lily Donaldson sat pretty in a loose, shimmering black mini dress and actress Salma Hayek also attended with her husband François-Henri Pinault.

Paris Fashion Week continues on Tuesday (06Oct15) with Chanel and Valentino among the fashion houses showing their Spring/Summer 16 lines.
