Riccardo Tisci's muse has a feisty side!
Mariacarla Boscono and Riccardo Tisci fight like cat and dog.
The Italian beauty began her work in the fashion industry at 15, after a family friend sent some photos of her to an agent.
Once discovered, the 34-year-old star moved to London, where she first met designer Riccardo. He was studying at Central Saint Martins and asked her to pose for the invitation for his graduation fashion show.
Their friendship has blossomed since then, with the model dubbed Riccardo's Givenchy muse and appearing in several of his campaigns.
“I arrived at his loft for the shoot and I never left! We just fell in love," Mariacarla smiled to The Edit. "But we fight like cat and dog, like brother and sister. There’s no filter. We go for months sometimes not talking, and then I call his mum or he calls my mum.
“It’s so natural for us. He’s my muse, too. We don’t sit around and talk about clothes; we go on vacation or to exhibitions. Back in the day we’d go to raves.”
While in the British capital Mariacarla also had an exclusive three-year contract with Comme des Garçons, putting her on the same level as supermodels Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer - although she admits being too nervous to talk to them.
Mariacarla spent her childhood moving about a lot; she was born in Rome, moved to Florida aged two and then lived in Kenya from the ages of nine to 14. It made it hard for the brunette beauty to settle down, but it's proved handy when coping with the solitude of her career.
“I was a very lonely child. But that’s what made me: it helped me to be alone as a model. You travel alone, then you work with all these people around you, but then you go back to the hotel alone," she added.
