Rachel Zoe designing prints for eBay collaboration

Rachel Zoe is partnering with eBay on a line of limited edition backpacks.

The stylist and designer has teamed with the e-commerce website on two "Americana" prints which will appear on a selection of backpacks.

Customers will be able to purchase the bags in September (16), with all proceeds going towards the charity Save the Children. Customers will be able to vote for their favourite on eBay’s Twitter page from 30 August.

"I am equally thrilled that with this initiative we are able to give back to children in need - with each backpack purchased, 100 per cent of the proceeds will support Save the Children, a cause that is very close to my heart," Zoe said in a statement.

The collaboration is part of eBay’s Summer of Choice campaign, which lets Americans vote on the items they most want in fashion, technology and home goods.

The concept of voting on a design online has emerged as a trend recently, as it allows the company to gauge exactly what the consumer desires while minimising waste.

"We know that our shoppers want choice – including access to the newest looks from today’s hottest designers," said Hal Lawton, senior vice president of eBay North America, of the new line.

The eBay backpack collaboration is the latest in a line of ventures the designer has made recently. As well as being the creative director of the Rachel Zoe Collection, comprised of ready-to-wear, footwear and jewellery lines, the mother-of-two has also teamed up with Quinny and Maxi-Cosi for a collection of baby strollers and car seats.

Rachel's backpacks will go on sale on 9 September for $45 (£34) each.
