Rachel Roy's passion for vision boards

Rachel Roy is a big believer in the power of a vision board.

The designer, who boasts the likes of Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson and Tyra Banks as clients, hails the inspirational tool as a way to determine your personal style, whatever budget you are working with.

“Not everybody can spend hours reading fashion blogs or afford the latest in designer clothing,” she writes on “But the inability to invest in these areas in the present moment doesn’t mean you can’t curate your outward appearance to the world and create a spirit that you hope will manifest in everything you hope to achieve.

"Whether you tend towards Zara staples or Chanel couture, the choices you make in how you present yourself to the world have a huge impact on your self-image.”

She admits that surrounding herself with images helps to keep her priorities at the top of her mind. Rachel also shares that she thinks the majority of people respond to visuals, as everyone has things that “make their heart sing”.

One place fashion lovers can go to get ideas for their own vision boards is Rachel’s website, though the designer thinks of the space as more of a digital flagship than a website.

The new e-commerce platform recently launched with stunning black and white photos and tabs for learning, giving back and behind the scenes video of Rachel and her famous friends.

Rachel’s A-list contacts, including Kim Kardashian, Gabrielle Union and Coco Rocha have even stepped in to guest edit, and Kris Jenner has penned an article titled Balancing Act: Building a Business and Running a Family.

“What could Rachel glean from her network of friends and family,” Amy Rapawy, senior vice president of marketing and e-commerce at Rachel Roy told WWD. “Our customer balances work and family. So Rachel went to Kris Jenner, and said, ‘You’re the Momager, how do you do it?’”
