Pyper America Smith: Street style is everything

Runway model Pyper America Smith gets her style inspiration from "homies on the street".

The 22-year-old beauty made her catwalk debut at New York Fashion Week this month (Sep15), opening Philipp Plein's show in a slinky metallic dress.

She's also hit the runway in Milan, walking for Italian fashion houses Moschino and Ermanno Scervino. While she rocks countless high-end looks for work, her personal style is more relaxed.

"I do get a lot of my personal style inspiration from homies off the street and the bookers at my agency NEXT," she opened up to "Also skater boys."

Pyper is loving her first taste of Fashion Week and counts New York and Italy among her favourite destinations. In fact, the whole nature of the job couldn't suit her any better.

"What I love most about modelling is how spontaneous it is and the places jobs have taken me," she smiled. "If I could live anywhere it would be in West Village, in Manhattan. I love the busy lifestyle and I think it's an interesting city."

Pyper has also been busy with campaigns, shooting with Moncler in Iceland for Autumn/Winter 15. But she still has plenty of big projects in her sights, naming Steven Klein, Kevin Murphy and Pat McGrath as some of the industry heavyweights she'd like to work with.

And should the chance arise, the blonde star would love to follow Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse into movies.

"Since I was really young, I've always wanted to be in movies and on TV," she gushed. "But I do want to be a model for as long as I can.

"Confidence is everything. If you believe in yourself and love who you are, you will go far. Also don't try too hard or worry too much about what everyone thinks of you."
