Prada casts 27 models for AW16 campaign
Prada has cast 27 models for its new campaign, to avoid being linked to a single face.
The brand released its Autumn/Winter 16 campaign on Monday (18Jul16) with an expanded cast of 27 models, a huge increase on the trio who fronted its previous campaign, to avoid being typecast.
Prada's women’s campaign photos and video, and the series were shot by legendary photographer Steven Meisel and features a lineup of celebrities and models including actress Milla Jovovich, Sasha Pivovarova, Stella Tennant, Freja Beha Erichsen, and Raquel Zimmermann.
In a post on its Instagram account, Prada described the thinking behind the new campaign, "Each woman is portrayed as a self-as-collage, layering on her body fragments of her own history, experiences, loves and dramas," the post read. "Raquel Zimmermann, Freja Beha Erichsen and Lorena Maraschi embody the strength of the Prada woman echoed through the prints, materials and charms of the collection."
Another post included a snippet of the stunning campaign video featuring the lineup of fierce models clad in Italian fashion house's new print heavy styles, velvet dresses and coats with leather corsets as seen on model Amanda Googe, Amanda Murphy, and Fei Fei Sun.
The post was captioned: "@Prada unveils the official #PradaFW16 campaign featuring a constellation of 27 women lensed by #StevenMeisel set against landscapes, from acid sunrise to twinkling night."
The AW16 collection, takes inspiration from a world traveller theme and was accessorised with lace-up boots and chunky statement jewellery, while the nomadic footwear collection included different takes on the traverser lace-up, wedge sandals and hiker boots and were styled with argyle or ribbed socks.
