Posen greatly influenced by Brook Brothers role
Zac Posen's forthcoming collection has been heavily influenced by high street fashion.
The designer is the go-to guy for red carpet events, and his show stopping creations have been seen on everyone from Amber Heard to Amber Rose.
In a move that surprised style fans, US retailer Brooks Brothers tapped Zac to become its creative director last year. Now Zac reveals how much the appointment has impacted his work.
"The experience of [designing for Brooks Brothers] has been greatly influential into how I built our fashion message for the upcoming [Zac Posen] runway show," he told Fashionista.
"It's going to have all the same attention to detail and technique, but with a new sense of ease, and lots of daywear. Elevated couture daywear."
That's not to say he is abandoning his glamorous roots, and no doubt some of TV's biggest stars will don gowns by Zac at Sunday's Emmy Awards.
"The va-voom dresses are there, but I don't need them on the runway, they're gonna be on the red carpet," Zac smiled.
Zac has been sharing style tips recently, with tailoring clothes top of his list.
"Alterations are the game changer when it comes to the perfect fit," he told glamour.com. "The right tailoring can make any garment work for any body. And it can make you feel confident - especially when, these days, a lot of clothing is two-dimensional, but in real life everybody is different, and women have curves."
He added that custom-made clothing is the most flattering and if taken care of, can last a lifetime.
