Philipp Plein's star-studded S/S 17 show

Philipp Plein put on a madcap, star-studded show as part of Milan Fashion Week on Wednesday evening (21Sep16).

The German designer went all out in presenting his Spring/Summer 17 line in the Italian city roping in celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Fergie and Fat Joe to take to the catwalk, with the Black Eyed Peas singer also performing during the evening.

Venue CityLife Palace was decked out with Astroturf, small houses and oversized toadstools with a swing ride, complete with children running around to create a fun festival vibe as the backdrop for the cool clothing.

The invitation explained the theme for the event was "Alice in Ghettoland", and Philipp didn’t hold back with the metallics for the occasion. Models strutted in ensembles such as a silver skirt with a blue pattern and a matching open blazer and a silver and gold gladiator-style dress with a chunky belt around the waist. There were more risque looks too, such as a silver skirt with gold swirls worn with no top, as just chunky gold necklaces barely covered the model's modesty.

More casual, wearable pieces featured too though, like a denim jumpsuit and leather pants worn with a black leather jacket. Every item was given a luxury touch though thanks to gold chains around necks, wrists and even dangling from garments, with heiress Paris looking especially chic in a black strappy gown and thigh-high gladiator sandals.

"Philipp Plein is a genius,” Paris gushed to W Magazine. “He’s a visionary. I love everything he does, I love his brand. And I thought tonight was one of the most insane, crazy, beautiful fashion shows I’ve ever been in in my life.”

Also showing on Wednesday evening was Roberto Cavalli. In contrast to Philipp, the Italian designer channelled a boho-vibe with his hippy-esque line. Models wore baggy, multi-coloured clothing with braids around their heads, while some also rocked '70s style sunglasses..

Milan Fashion Week continues on Thursday (22Sep16) with the likes of Max Mara and Fendi showing.
