Moschino works its magic on Barbie
Moschino has teamed up with Mattel to create a Barbie doll and capsule collection.
The fashion house has already paid tribute to toy company’s iconic doll with its Spring/Summer 15 collection, which was dedicated to the blonde bombshell with its bright pink outfits. Now the two companies take their bond further, as Moschino's creative director Jeremy Scott has worked his magic on Barbie with pieces such as a quilted faux leather bomber jacket and a slogan T-shirt reading 'The most Moschino T-shirt ever'.
"I wanted to bring all of the Moschino elements to Barbie, as I had done the reverse by bringing all of the Barbie elements to Moschino for the spring 2015 collection,” Jeremy told WWD. “The thing I love most about Barbie is that she is the ultimate muse, she’s worn every style and design imaginable and at the same time she’s had every possible profession you can dream of.”
Other elements include mesh knitwear, a pencil skirt and trendy accessories such as earrings, a motorcycle bag, a gold chain belt and a shopping bag. The eight-piece line launches on November 9 2015 and will include adult-size versions of Barbie's wardrobe, as well as two Moschino Barbie tees. Prices for the clothing range from $225 to $1,595, while the doll itself will come in at $150.
Jeremy spoke about his love of Barbie before his S/S15 show in 2014 after models took to the catwalk in pieces such as a cropped pink leather jacket and a pink bralette which resembled a plastic bow. "It's hard not to (love Barbie); she's practically perfect," Jeremy gushed at the time. "She's a good big sister, she's had every job in the world, worn every outfit. And it's just joyful. Her and I share the same things: We just want to bring joy to people."
