Michael Kors frames his customers
Michael Kors views his customers as pictures he has to "frame".
The famed fashion designer counts many of Hollywood's elite, like Naomi Watts and Blake Lively, as fans of his ladylike creations. His attention to detail is one of the things setting him apart from his competition and he will never stray from putting his wearers first.
"As a designer I am a believer that the person I dress is the picture and I am the framer - I just have to make the right frame," he explained to Britain's Hello! magazine.
"I am a New Yorker and women in New York are very vocal. They are not shy and they speak their minds. Having started my career in retail and spending time in my stores, I know that women will tell you what they think and I love the feedback."
Michael also relies on social media to keep up with what people think of his work, using Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to converse with loyal followers.
One of the biggest famous names to wear his pieces has to be Britain's Duchess of Cambridge, who recently wowed in a swing coat from Michael's spring/summer 14 collection. It's a thrill for the fashion star to see his designs on such a well-respected person.
"To see someone who has the world's eyes on her at all times gravitate to wearing something not just once but again and again, means I know that I did my job right," he smiled.
He hasn't let his success go to his head though and is always giving back, especially since becoming an ambassador for the United Nations' World Food Programme. Three years ago he set up the Watch Hunger Stop campaign and has served around 13 million meals around the globe since.
