Marques'Almeida: Did we actually scoop LVMH prize?
Marques'Almeida question if their LVMH Prize was real.
Design duo Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida are behind the brand and stormed their way to victory at last month's ceremony, taking home the coveted 2015 accolade, and bagging 300,000 euros.
Part of the prize is also a year-long mentorship from LVMH group, which will help the pair hone their business skills in all areas of the industry.
"It seems like ages ago. We keep looking back at the pictures on Instagram and are like: 'Is that real? Was that Natalie Portman? Did that happen?'" Paulo laughed to UK Vogue.
The win means that the fashion house will be able to do its own show at London Fashion Week in September.
Previously the label has worked with support schemes to show at the bi-annual event, something they are both really grateful for.
"We just want to make sure our message is loud and clear and everyone knows what the brand is about," Marta said of their forthcoming S/S16 show.
Before that, the pair was busy working on their debut resort collection, which they recently launched.
Marques'Almeida has never shied away from bright hues, and their latest drop is no different. Frayed denims, block colour dresses and a silver suit all feature, with Marta's sister Sofia modelling the looks for the Brazilian shoot.
"It was about doing things we always wanted to do," Marta noted.
"We thought about doing it last year but we only wanted to do it if it was really special, it couldn't be a rehash of old styles. It felt right - what with my sister living in Brazil and the whole tropical feel."
