Marchesa Notte teams up with Rent the Runway

Marchesa Notte is teaming up with Rent the Runway for an evening gown capsule collection.

The sister brand to Marchesa is the latest label to collaborate with the online service, following in the footsteps of fashion houses Monique Lhuillier and Badgley Mischka. Three gorgeous dresses presented in multiple colours will be available to rent from January 2016, with two featuring slim silhouettes while the third boasts a full skirt. Shades include black, peacock-blue and fuchsia.

Marchesha Notte co-designer Georgina Chapman made sure to channel the romantic theme from the label's Spring 16 line into the pieces, with detailing like lace and embroidery featuring. Georgina's business partner Keren Craig also explained how the pair analysed which of their designs were most popular before creating pieces for Rent the Runway.

“From there, we took customers’ favourite elements and designed new, exclusive dresses to highlight those features,” she told WWD.

The website's senior vice president of merchandising and planning, Sarah Tam, praised the two designers and their ability to "encompass all women".

Fashion fans can rent the gowns for between $195 and $120, or purchase them for between $1,295 and $1,395. It's the reasonable borrowing charges which Marchesa Notte's chief executive officer Edward Chapman thinks will expand their clientele.

“The fact that these dresses are exclusive and can only be accessed through Rent the Runway drives excitement and interest,” he added.

Marchesa as a whole has had a successful 2015, and in August (15) the brand announced its first ever shoe line. Georgina and Keren couldn't contain their excitement at joining forces with footwear and handbag licensing company AKH Group for the venture.

“We’ve always envisioned Marchesa as a lifestyle brand and including a full shoe collection is an important part of that vision,” Georgina told WWD. “Customers and retailers alike have requested we expand into footwear so it’s incredibly exciting to have found a partner who can help us fulfil that goal.”
