Marc Jacobs wows his models
Marc Jacobs doesn't show a hint of stress before a show, according to one of his models.
Rising star Brooke Durrant hit the catwalk for the star' Resort 16 show in New York City last week, marking her fashion show debut. She wore a slim-fitting vinyl jacket and full black skirt with cutout detailing, along with bright red ankle boots and heavy eyebrows pencilled on her face.
While many would have been nervous in the run-up, Brooke didn't feel that way because the atmosphere was so calm.
"Marc is just visionary. With a show the next day, you’d think that he might be feeling stress, but he had the vision so clear in his mind that he could look at an outfit and know exactly how he wanted it presented. It was thrilling just to watch him work," she explained to Style.com.
The day was a big one for Marc, whose label has undergone a lot of changes of late. He folded his Marc by Marc Jacobs offering into his main line, but the Resort presentation was praised by critics for its fresh and modern feel.
Brooke hails from Australia, although she's now in the Big Apple thanks to her career. When she arrived she knew she'd be seeing Marc, but she didn't think she'd score a role in his catwalk display.
"The night before the show, we were there till 1 a.m. trying on the most amazing outfits you could imagine. When the team was like, ‘We’ll see you tomorrow,’ I couldn’t believe it," she explained.
"I never want to stop. Now that I’ve had a bit of a taste, I can’t wait to come back for New York fashion week. Of course I’d love to work with all of the top designers. Marc Jacobs was always a dream, but just because I’ve gotten to make that a reality doesn’t mean I want to stop there!"
Adding to the excitement were the other models, with Brooke able to get tips from the likes of Amber Valletta - who told her to work hard, because if she does the world is her oyster.
