Marc Jacobs throws a rave for spring '17
Marc Jacobs showed a line of rave-inspired outfits in rainbow hues for spring 2017.
The designer presented his latest collection at the Hammersmith Ballroom on Thursday (15Sep16), the last day of New York Fashion Week.
Jacobs, 53, decked out the space with hundreds of lightbulbs for a striking effect, while the room’s stage became the runway, with the likes of Sofia Coppola, Courtney Love and Zosia Mamet all perched on the front row.
Model Kiki Willems opened the show in silver high waisted shorts, an embroidered long sleeve top with puffed sleeves, and sky high platform boots. While Adriana Lima strutted her stuff in a leopard print mini dress, with black rose detailing at the neck and gold platform boots with tiny buckles up the front of the shins. And Irina Shayk rocked the runway in a pair of dark pink hot pants, a paisley purple shirt and a violet suede and faux fur jacket. Among the rave-style ensembles were camouflage prints, striped rugby-inspired shirts, rainbow sequined jackets, bejewelled '90s minidresses, patchwork coats and multicoloured thigh-high socks.
All models wore their hair in pastel hued dreadlocks which were twisted into buns atop their heads, courtesy of stylist Guido Palau.
Francois Nars was in charge of the make-up looks, choosing to use pastel eyeshadows in pinks and seafoam blue on the models' eyelids, while lips were painted a rose pink.
"Lashes were applied to help define the eye, the face was kept clean with little makeup and the brows were brushed up and natural,” Nars wrote on his Instagram page. “The look is very 80's English Rave - Boy George, Marilyn Manson, Club Kids, all people who are not scared to push boundaries.”
