Louis Vuitton shows modern power dressing for spring 17

Louis Vuitton presented a modern take on power dressing for Spring/Summer 2017.

Creative Director Nicholas Ghesquiere held the show at the famous Place Vendome on Wednesday morning (05Oct16), as part of Paris Fashion Week.

Front row fixtures and muses Miranda Kerr, Alicia Vikander and Catherine Deneuve sat perched by the white runway, and watched intently as the exquisite catwalk show kicked off.

The show opened with a model wearing a dark grey draped dress with asymmetric hem which was clinched in at the waist with a black belt. Similar dress styles followed, albeit in a burnt orange and glittering silver fabric, which will no doubt be snapped up by celebrities for the upcoming awards season.

Ghesquiere imbued the outfits with a sense of strength and femininity, giving his take on a power suit with a grey skirt and matching blazer which had oversized lapels. Models also wore blazers with shoulder pads, cape jackets with slits up the side to reveal the arms and boldly coloured cropped metallic leather biker-style jackets. Mixing up the hard edge with some softer pieces, highlights had to be a cobalt blue trouser and sleeveless top combination made from lace, and an emerald green sheer lace trousers matched with a rocker-inspired T-shirt.

The designer also showed her version of the naked dress trend, with models wearing sheer black dresses with modesty panelling in the bodice and skirt. Though a standout was a black leather minidress with a corset top and sweetheart neckline, which was simultaneously elegant and edgy.

Models wore hair in natural waves or shaggy bobs, with eyes lined with strong black liner. However, all attention was on the footwear, with models donning either striking two-tone Python-look boots or nude high heels with black crossover straps.

Paris Fashion Week wraps up on Wednesday afternoon with shows from Moncler Gamme Rouge and Miu Miu.
