Louis Vuitton presents safari style for menswear line
Louis Vuitton combined classic silhouettes with safari-inspired graphic prints at its latest menswear presentation.
The French fashion house showed its Spring/Summer 2017 men's line at Paris Fashion Week on Thursday morning (23Jun16), with A-list fans of the label including model Kate Moss and footballer David Beckham perched on the front row.
The show opened with a model taking to the runway in a cream classic belted trench coat, made from crocodile skin effect leather and accessorised with a matching backpack. Exotic animal skins were further referenced in the collection through a fluffy mohair jumper which had a giraffe print, as well as a leather jacket with a cobalt blue, white and black zebra graphic. Nods to African safaris were also evident in short sleeved brown shirts featuring banana leafs and giraffe images, some of which were intermingled with the brand's signature L.V. logo. African tribal designs on shirts were matched with sharply tailored navy and chino trousers, most of which were cuffed at the ankle and worn with strapped sandals, further enhancing the relaxed vibe.
Elsewhere, a modern edge was established through the use of check prints in earthy tones, such as red, forest green and burnt orange. A black and white zigzag stripe printed knee length coat worn over blue slim line trousers is also sure to make a sartorial statement.
Louis Vuitton men's style director Kim Jones also threw in a few suits for the fashionable professional, including a white suit blazer which had elegant black piping and matching buttons.
And in keeping with the maison's heritage, bags were a central aspect of the show. This season's key styles include a mini satchel with buckle, to be worn across the body, oversized rucksacks with the Louis Vuitton logo and even a briefcase, printed with striking zebra stripes.
