Lima and Ambrosio 'persuaded to stay at VS'
Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio were apparently considering hanging up their Angel wings.
The models have been two of Victoria's Secret's biggest stars for years now, even taking to the runway together to model the Fantasy Bras at the lingerie brand's fashion show last year.
But the company's army of beauties has slowly been diminishing, with Karlie Kloss, 22, and Doutzen Kroes, 30, both leaving the label recently.
And now New York Daily News claims veteran Angels Alessandra and Adriana, both 33, were close to doing the same. However, a new contract has apparently been worked out for Alessandra, while Adriana is said to have signed hers already.
“Alessandra’s [contract talks are] going on now and it looks like it’s getting close to getting signed,” an insider told the publication's Confidenti@l column.
According to the source, it means both girls will stay until at least this year's fashion show.
Word also has it that Victoria's Secret is focusing more on its fresh faces, such as 26-year-old Martha Hunt and Jasmine Tookes, 24.
Karlie decided to leave her job in favour of going to college.
"Karlie and I met several months ago to discuss the many things she hoped to do in her life and career. As we talked, it became clear she would not have the time to fulfil her myriad commitments. Reluctantly, we agreed she would leave the brand at the end of her contract," Ed Razek, senior creative at the lingerie brand, confirmed.
Meanwhile, Doutzen is following a "lucrative opportunity" to Europe. As it would have conflicted with her duties as an Angel, she was released from her contract.
"There was no conflict. No animosity. None of the nonsense I've read on Instagram. She had a great business opportunity, and I wanted to be fair to someone I adore and respect. That's all. I honestly believe Doutzen is one of the most stunningly beautiful people in the world. And I always will. I have told her that many times. Now you know," Ed posted on Instagram.
