Liam Gallagher launches clothing line in honour of Jimi Hendrix
Liam Gallagher has designed a clothing line in memory of the late musician Jimi Hendrix.
The 43-year-old singer songwriter, who owns his own menswear fashion and lifestyle brand Pretty Green, has teamed up with Jimi Hendrix's sister Janie on a new Autumn/Winter 2016 collection to celebrate 50 years since the late American musician shot to fame in London.
Speaking about the legendary guitarist - who died from an overdose in 1970 - the Oasis frontman said: "Jimi Hendrix is an absolute force of nature. As well as him being the best guitarist ever, he's also one of the greatest songwriters; his lyrics and his voice are equally as good and his look is as out-there as his music. Not necessarily stoned but beautiful."
The capsule features the silhouette of the 'Purple Haze' hitmaker on a badge motif on the outerwear, which also appears on the inner lining of the garments.
Other items in the range include the military overcoat with bespoke branded buttons, the all over patterned blazer and a pair of dogtooth-printed trousers, as well as bold shirts and graphic t-shirts made from luxury fabrics, scarves, iPhone cases and badges.
And all items in the range feature Jimi's signature as well as an authentic Hendrix trademark.
Meanwhile, Janie has admitted it was essential to work with the right people on the clothing and accessories line in honour of her sibling and believes Pretty Green were the "ideal" brand to collaborate with.
She explained: "Pretty Green has a strong rock and roll heritage, so they were the ideal partner to create a collection that embodies Jimi's style for a new generation. Pretty Green's hand painted prints and graphic artwork incorporate original material from the Hendrix archive, giving this one of a kind collection a real edge.
"These pieces have an incredible authenticity about them and we are very proud of what has been achieved. We're thrilled to make them available to the true Hendrix enthusiasts."
