Lanvin wows with sheer dresses and feminine suiting for spring '17
Lanvin has offered up flirty and feminine pieces for spring 2017.
Creative Director Bouchra Jarrar presented her highly anticipated second collection for the French label on Wednesday morning (28Sep16) as part of Paris Fashion Week, after taking over from Alber Elbaz in October 2015.
Held at the chandelier-filled salon of the Hotel de Ville, the runway show featured a line up of sheer floaty dresses and tailored suits, mostly in shades of vivid indigo, pearl white and black.
The show opened with a model wearing a white silk suit which is worn over a very long white and navy striped shirt, with oversized blue and white flowers pinned to the breast pocket.
A procession of sheer black chiffon dresses followed, revealing high-waisted blacks briefs underneath. Interspersed through the collection were white evening gowns, some of which were adorned with feathers, buckles or floral posies, while a sleeveless navy satin minidress with ruffles around the hem and matching bright gold fringe necklace proved to be a standout look, as were a pair of dark blue metallic leather trousers.
And celebrities will no doubt be quick to snap up Jarrar’s line up of sheer electric blue dresses, which featured flowing trains, pussy bow necklines or halter straps, and were worn sans bra by models.
When it came to accessories, Jarrar went all out, choosing to pair outfits with matching handbags, gold necklaces and brooches. Some models wore embellished high heels, but most strutted their stuff in bedazzled slides and sandals – with the flat shoes injecting a sense of youth into the line.
Speaking prior to the unveiling, the 45-year-old designer said she wanted her garments to be imbued with a sense of lightness and sensuality.
“I know how to optimise a woman’s silhouette, no matter what her size,” she told The New York Times. “I look at all women: the baker, the mother, the actress, my friends. I am interested in, and curious about, every type of woman.”
