Kenya Kinski-Jones grateful for fashion opportunities

Kenya Kinski-Jones thinks her positive attitude will put her in good stead in the modelling world.

The up-and-coming fashion star may come from a privileged background, her father is music producer legend Quincy Jones and her mother is German actress and former model Nastassja Kinski, but that doesn’t mean Kenya expects an easy ride when she’s on set.

“You have to have a good attitude,” she told W magazine of the biggest lesson she’s learnt since getting into fashion.

“If you stay positive even when you’re tired or freezing, or whatever the condition may be, it changes the whole environment of the shoot. You have to be uplifting to the team. Always be kind and always be grateful.”

As well as her famous folks - Kenya’s half-sister is actress Rashida Jones - the model admits she doesn’t fancy a career in either acting or music like her family has pursued.

Kenya made her Fashion Week debut on the Autumn/ Winter 16 runways, and admits the experience was a dream come true.

“I remember needing to be in class at school and seeing glimpses of the shows on Instagram, so Fashion Week for the first time was incredible,” she beamed. “There’s a certain energy at the shows that’s awesome to experience in person. I got chills. It’s a whole other level.”

Kenya is currently starring in Stella McCartney’s latest perfume campaign for scent Pop. Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon, singer Grimes and The Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg also feature, and the star reveals working with the group was a blast.

“Getting to know the girls was so much fun,” she smiled. “They really are incredible, cool, individual, and intelligent and I admire each of them very much. The things we were able to do and experience while shooting the campaign over four days was something I’ll never forget.”
