Katy O'Kane: Ghesquière gives me confidence
Nicolas Ghesquière has inspired his model muse to achieve her dreams.
The Louis Vuitton designer has signed new model Katy O’Kane on an exclusive contract and she walked during his Autumn/Winter 15 show at Paris Fashion Week yesterday.
It was a complete change of gear for Katy, who was scouted when she was shopping with her mother and is more used to hitting the school books than the runway.
"Doing as good as I can in school always makes me feel normal and mentally focused among all the chaos of the industry," she explained to style.com.
"Working with somebody so exceptional and genuine as Nicolas really took away the nerves I had before going into the casting. I could not help but be so relaxed, and he gives me a lot of inspiration to achieve anything in my life, just like he has with Louis Vuitton."
Katy wore a white coat on the runway, which fell to her knees and was zipped up the front. Slung over her arm was a furry leopard-print stole and she had black, studded flats to complete the look.
The show marked the first time the model had worked outside America, which she called different in "the greatest way imaginable".
Although some might have been scared, the team at Louis Vuitton made sure Kate wasn't alone and felt completely involved in the process.
"I would have to say I have the most fun hearing about the lives of the photographers, designers, hair, make-up, and stylist team," she added.
