Karl: My models are angels
Karl Lagerfeld views his favourite models as "floating, modern little angels".
The designer often calls on the same women to grace his catwalks, and after Fendi's Spring/Summer 15 show in Milan last year he discussed why. For Karl, these are more than just models.
"I love Lindsey Wixson, because she has a face that's like nobody else's. I've witnessed Lindsey growing up in the industry, since she started modelling at 15. Also, that personality, non? Georgia May [Jagger] is a lovely girl. She's great. I really loved her mother [as a model]; Jerry Hall was someone I loved. And Sam Rollinson is very different from everybody else. I like them different, but at the same time they are a group of floating, modern little angels," he told British magazine InStyle in a new interview. "And Cara [Delevingne] is someone I don't even talk about, because Cara is somebody I love as a person and everything."
It seems the models have just as much love for Karl, who also has his own label and is in charge of Chanel too. Sam called him "such a nice guy", while Lindsey admitted being blown away by his talent.
"He's a genius. I love the sharpness of the styling and the clothes. It always turns out to be something that you aspire to. It's feminine and beautiful, but very strict," she gushed.
However, it seems Karl doesn't find all models as spellbinding. The designer was quizzed on his decision to use Kendall Jenner in his shows, but seemingly joked that he didn't understand the question. The star shot to fame thanks to her family's reality TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians but is now a catwalk stalwart.
"She walked in the show?" Karl stated. "I'm try[ing] to remember who she was. There are a few girls whose names I don't remember. There are 50 girls walking in the show. That's a lot, huh?"
