Karl Lagerfeld launching jewellery
Karl Lagerfeld is adding fine and bridal jewellery to its offerings.
The brand, helmed by 82-year-old fashion icon Karl, has struck a deal with U.S. jewellery manufacturer Frederick Goldman Inc., reports WWD. Engagement and wedding rings, all featuring precious diamonds and materials, will hit shelves in September (16), but customers can feast their eyes on the trinkets during the Luxury by JCK show in Las Vegas between May 31 (16) to June 6 (16).
“Our fine jewellery licensing agreement with one of the leading companies in its field, Frederick Goldman Inc. represents an exciting step for the development of our global brand and business,” Pier Paolo Righi, president and chief executive officer of Karl Lagerfeld Group, said.
Rather than keeping things classic, Karl Lagerfeld has taken a contemporary route for its bridal jewellery to reflect the label's "iconic, creative and cool" DNA. The brand also noted that the range is aimed at an aspirational luxury customer; someone who strives for success and prestige.
Jonathan Goldman, CEO of Frederick Goldman Inc., is confident that Karl Lagerfeld will appeal to the target audience thanks to its unique, modern pieces.
“With our company’s 68 years of expertise in the fine jewellery industry, we are certain that the new Karl Lagerfeld bridal and wedding jewellery collections will drive and inspire the designer-conscious, Millennial consumer who seeks style and appreciates bridal jewellery,” he told WWD.
The bridal jewellery line will join Karl Lagerfeld's ready-to-wear collections for men, women and children, its bag range, accessories, watches and eyewear, not forgetting the fragrances and casual menswear line.
G-III Apparel Group Ltd. took a 19 per cent stake in Karl Lagerfeld Group BV earlier this year (16), with the hope of pushing into North America. The brand has a lot happening at the moment, which means Karl himself must be busy as he also helms fashion houses Chanel and Fendi.
