Karen Elson can't help but hoard fragrance

Karen Elson is a self-confessed fragrance hoarder.

The British model, known for her signature red hair and delicate porcelain skin, has walked the runways for many top designers including Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Versace and Dior.

Now, the 37-year-old is joining fellow It-girl Poppy Delevingne as the latest face of the fragrance brand Jo Malone, something she is very excited about having loved and used the products for a long time.

"I’ve been a fan of Jo Malone London for well over a decade, and I love all the fragrances so much," she told Buro 24/7. "I jumped at the chance to work with the brand - I am an admitted scent hoarder!"

As part of her role as an ambassador for the British brand, Karen will be sharing her enthusiasm for fragrance at scented dinners and parties. At these events, she will also be happy to give advice on some of her favoured scent combinations, such as Jo Malone’s Wild Bluebell and Red Roses Colognes.

"I do like to play with fragrance. My favourite way to combine is to use a body creme in one scent and then layer a different cologne on top. I love to use the Wood Sage & Sea Salt Body Creme, then spritz Blackberry & Bay Cologne — heaven!" she said.

Karen adds that some scents have the power to transport her home or evoke memories from her childhood in England.

For instance, the model shares that Jo Malone’s Wild Bluebell Cologne reminds her of when she’d go bluebell picking in the spring.

But when she’s performing, the talented singer-songwriter prefers a more edgy scent.

"When I’m on stage, I love to wear Velvet Rose & Oud. It’s got a sensual, sultry feel to it. I usually wear the Dry Body Oil. The scent lingers beautifully on the skin, without overwhelming," smiled Karen.

The news of Karen’s role at Jo Malone comes as the brand prepares to expand further into the U.S., with the fragrance brand, Jo Loves, launching its first American e-commerce site next week (begs21Nov16).
