Jonathan Saunders label shuts down
The Jonathan Saunders label is shutting down as the designer is leaving his post as creative director for personal reasons.
Jonathan secured investment from Eiesha Bharti Pasricha in January (15), but in a statement the company says he and his business partner made the joint decision to cease production.
“It is not a decision that I take lightly and I am eternally grateful to my team for all their hard work and dedication,” WWD quotes the designer as saying.
“Eiesha has not only been a fantastic partner over the last year but an incredible support and we remain close. I am very thankful for all of the friends that I have across the industry, and I look forward to working with everyone again soon on future creative projects."
When Eiesha joined the company, there was talk of "future growth" and moving the brand into a new chapter.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed supporting one of the most talented British designers of our times. Our decision to part ways was not easy and I wish Jonathan every success for the future," she added.
2015 was a big year of changes for the designer, who also appointed a new CEO, Rupert Maunsell, in July (15).
"I have always admired Jonathan's work immensely and feel fortunate to be working with such a great talent," Rupert said at the time. "I am delighted to be part of this new chapter at Jonathan Saunders and look forward to developing this fantastic British brand together."
There hasn't been any word from Rupert yet regarding the closure.
