Jimmy Choo teams up with Moon Boots

Jimmy Choo is creating a limited edition range of Moon Boots.

The shoe company has teamed up with the Italian label for the collection, which will be available to buy in October. Fans don't need to wait that long to get a glimpse of the designs though, as they will be debuted next month alongside Jimmy Choo's Cruise 16 range.

"[I have] always loved the futuristic, yet retro-cool Italian design of Moon Boot, and [I'm] delighted to create a Jimmy Choo signature look befitting the style," creative director of Jimmy Choo Sandra Choi told WWD.

Among the offerings will be boots made in fox fur and shearling.

As well as being available from Jimmy Choo stores and its website, the collection will be sold in some department stores and via Moon Boot's online store.

Moon Boot was created in 1970 and its looks are inspired by the footwear worn by the astronauts who landed on the moon in 1969. They tend to have large rubber-look soles and are laced up to mid-calf, with the pieces perfect for colder climates and snow.

It's not the first time Jimmy Choo has dipped its toe into moon boots, having previously created a pair covered in leopard print and with patent detailing.

Moon Boot is owned by Tecnica Group, and the holding company's CEO has spoken of why this collaboration is so important.

"[It] enhances our focus on premium goods for an international audience of fashion lovers," Alberto Zanatta said.

Sandra has been with Jimmy Choo since it started in 1996 and has made no secret of her desire to expand the company's offerings. Towards the end of last year she hinted that a lot of new things were in store for the label, although she played the specifics close to her chest.

"Jimmy taught me the art of shoemaking and how to construct a shoe from the foundation, understanding the importance of the structure and form," she said. "The aesthetic and vision have been combined and evolved over the years and feel like second nature to me. I am excited to be able to navigate the brand through its next exciting chapter."
