Jillian Hervey is 'honoured' to be the face of Pantene Pro-V
Jillian Hervey is "honoured" to be the new face of Pantene Pro-V.
The 26-year-old singer - who makes up half of the neo soul duo Lion Babe - has been announced as the hair care brand's ambassador for curly hair alongside the 'Kill Em With Kindness' songstress Selena Gomez, and is excited to represent "girls with curls" on her latest beauty venture.
Speaking to PEOPLE about her partnership, which has been a household essential since she was a child, she said: "It's really exciting to be a voice for girls with curls.
"I feel honoured to be [working with a] company that I've really seen my whole life. My dad [Ramon Hervey], has had Pantene in his shower since I was a little kid."
However, Jillian was terrified by her full head of bouncing locks when she was younger.
She explained: "When I was a young girl, I wasn't always trying to have curly hair. And I just didn't know how to do it. It was overwhelming and it kind of freaked me out especially since most people around me had super long, straight hair. I didn't really know where that fit in."
Meanwhile, the brunette beauty - who is the daughter of 'Ugly Betty' actress Vanessa Williams who was the first African- American female crowned Miss America in 1984 - learnt how to wash her hair by her mother and was told to avoid products that "eat" your hair.
Speaking about the beauty tips given to her by her fashion designer parent, she said: "She taught me tons of things.
"Don't over-do anything! You don't need too much hairspray or any products that are really going to eat at your hair.
"But she also definitely made sure I understood the process of washing my hair, using detangling products and blow-drying my hair do it in sections.
"I think my beauty regimen and my beauty knowledge just comes from watching her. Sometimes it's not verbally it's just kind of how she preps her hair."
