Issa Lish's praise for Steven Meisel
Issa Lish has praised Steven Meisel for bringing out people's "essence".
It's been a whirlwind year for the new model, who walked in the BCBG Max Azria Fall/Winter 15 show and appeared in Marc Jacob's recent campaign.
She was also shot by renowned fashion photographer Steven for the cover of Vogue Italia's April cover last year and admits he has changed her life.
"With each shot, he brings out your essence, which is something that not a lot of photographers can do," she gushed to Style.com.
"He brings your inner beauty and shows your personality through the images, but he doesn’t just tell you, 'Stand there and be yourself.' He knows exactly what he wants and what kind of image he wants to create.
"It’s like acting, just because of the fact that he makes you get into a character. That character can be you, it can be someone glamorous, or it can even be a girl running from a killer. I would say he’s an amazing person in all aspects—very talented, very kind, super-generous."
Things happened quickly for the 19-year-old once she appeared in Vogue and at Fashion Week earlier this year she hit a huge variety of runways. Being able to work with so many great designers was a dream come true for Issa.
"I would say it was just getting shows that I didn’t get last season and getting to build relationships with people that I didn’t know," she explained.
"For example, the Alexander Wang show was a big deal for me because I always wanted to do it, but I never got the opportunity to do it until this season, so I would say that was a big accomplishment for me. Or Givenchy, which I’ve wanted to do since my first season—sometimes the timing’s not right, but this season it was perfect."
