Henry Holland: 'You can't beat white trainers'

Henry Holland is channelling sporty chic this season.

The British designer often fills his catwalk presentation with bright colours and quirky touches - his Spring/Summer women's showcase included lashings of leopard print alongside bold stripes and floral patterns. However he's not against keeping things simple, with Henry calling out the humble white trainer as one of his hero products.

"The greatest thing about white trainers is that they are clean, simple and versatile, and therefore easy to pull off," he smiled to InStyle UK. "Pair them with a wide-leg trouser, long shirt and boyish blazer. Alternatively, you could go for the minimal Scandi look. I think the key thing here is not to over think it."

It's not just a sporty shoe that Henry is currently lusting after; a trendy pair of sweat pants also make the grade for the style star. When a reader asked for her top tips to feel comfortable over the holidays, Henry knew exactly which look to advise.

"Luckily for you, tracksuit trousers are a continuing trend, as seen on the Chloé S/S 2016 runway," he noted. "As always, it's key to get the cut and fabric right, but they're easy to dress up or down and are no longer just for lounging at home on a Sunday afternoon."

When it comes to his business, there's more to the House of Holland label than just clothes and accessories. Henry is hoping to infuse the brand with his love of technology, a strategy he implemented for his September (15) show. The audience were able to buy clothes directly from the shoppable runway, an idea he thinks will be able to boost fashion house's revenue in the future.

"There’s only so long that fashion houses are going to spend huge amounts of money on shows and not get their money back," he told Britain's Evening Standard magazine. "The fact that those looks are on Instagram while the public has to wait three months to purchase them seems so backward."
