Henry Holland: How to nail a job interview

Henry Holland can tell a lot about someone from their shoes.

The British designer regularly gives advice to his fans and followers to help them on their paths to the perfect style. And when it comes to job interviews, the 32-year-old thinks footwear is crucial.

"Job interviews are always a tricky one. You need to feel confident and amazing, but you also potentially want to portray a more 'elevated' version of yourself," he told British InStyle. "Luckily, the mid-height heel - 3-5cm - is painfully cool right now, and I can tell a lot about a person when I've seen their shoes."

With this in mind, Henry advises everyone to invest in a great pair of shoes that can stand the test of time. Beyond that, the designer thinks a slightly androgynous look is better than anything fussy.

"Wear them with your most 'I've got this nailed with my eyes shut' pants suit and - ta-da- you'll be scheduling your induction in no time," he grinned.

Simple, clean lines are a favourite look of Henry's and his top rule is to avoid heavy embellishments like pussy bows. With ruffled collars a huge trend, how can elaborate shirts be toned down?

"Stay away from anything fussy. Lace topping or a pussy bow. Never the two shall meet," he shuddered. "Do be careful though, as this is a tricky trend to pull off. So make sure that it works for you, before you end up looking like a matron on her lunch break."

Henry will be showing off his label House of Holland's Spring/Summer 16 collection tomorrow at London Fashion Week.
