Heidi Klum's Twiggy tresses
Heidi Klum channelled Twiggy with her hairstyle at the amfAR Gala in Cannes on Thursday night (19May16).
The supermodel wowed at the fashion event in France wearing a yellow Versace gown, which featured a daringly low neckline and thigh-high slit on the skirt. Hairstylist and Iles Formula haircare founder Wendy Iles tended to her tresses and created a cute updo, with her locks twisted into a bun with loose strands at the front.
“The hairstyle had a '70s vibe with little Twiggy side curls; I wanted something tight, fresh and modern," Wendy told People magazine, taking readers through the process of the finishing look. “Starting to tong the hair after blow-drying. This was a coiffure that had to be chic and up and then cascade down at the after party into tumbling waves, so I chose this chignon method, making a double knot ponytail to create a wave in Heidi's hair.
"I then twisted the ends around the tail, creating more waves to the ends. So the chignon, although perfect for the carpet, is actually setting a wave in her hair for the after-party!”
Many of fashion's elite hit the red carpet on Thursday, with Jourdan Dunn, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Bella Hadid just a few of the big names joining 42-year-old Heidi.
Bella oozed sex appeal in a black backless dress by Dior, which was a far cry from her super-revealing red number by Alexandre Vauthier Couture earlier this week (end20May16).
"THANK YOU [email protected] for giving me a dress & having me at your table for such an incredible event tonight dedicated to ending global [email protected] and @carineroitfeld for having me walk in the show.." she wrote on Instagram, referring to her stint on the runway in a futuristic silver number during the do.
Petra Nemcova dazzled in a pink one-shoulder ombre gown with a stunning long skirt, which she twirled in for photographers. She too shared her night on Instagram with an inspirational caption alongside a photo of her spinning in the dress.
"What a magician (sic) and meaningful night in the [email protected] dress at @amfarat Hotel Du Cap. We can do this by 2020! #CannesFilmFestival" she wrote.
