Heidi Klum practises Pilates in bed

Heidi Klum has some unconventional methods for keeping in shape, including Pilates in bed.

The German model and entrepreneur is known for her amazingly fit body and infectious energy level, something which she puts down to her regular workouts. However, the mother-of-four finds that typical exercise sessions tend to be boring, so she often opts to mix-up her fitness regime with some rather quirky techniques.

"I probably exercise more now than pre-kids," she told Britain's InStyle magazine. "I didn't really work out that much before. I've always had a very good metabolism so I eat a lot, but very healthily. Sometimes I just do silly exercises when I'm lying in bed watching TV, like using a Pilates resistance ring to tone up my legs."

The Project Runway host also has a gym space installed in the attic of her home, and usually runs on her treadmill three times per week. She's not a fan of straightforward jogging, however, so will adjust the speed and incline to challenge herself.

The 43-year-old likes to get out and about in the fresh air whenever she can, taking her three dogs - two German Shepherds and a Pomeranian - out hiking with her when she's in Los Angeles. When it comes to running tracks, Heidi is very specific about what genre of music she listens to.

"Hip hop is usually on my running playlist. I listen to anything that has a great beat and can keep me moving. Right now, I'm loving Snoop (Dogg), Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar. I like to listen to my music really loud and zone out," she shared.

As well as running regularly, Heidi also ensures she follows a healthy diet, and likes to kick off her day by knocking back a fresh smoothie made from "every kind of fruit you can think of" as well as seeds and other nutritional goodies.
