H&M teams with Balmain
Balmain has been tapped by H&M.
The French fashion house, helmed by Olivier Rousteing, is a favourite amongst the A-list including Miley Cyrus, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kim Kardashian.
The popularity of the label has led to high street retailer H&M signing up the brand as its latest collaborator.
“We are excited to have Balmain as our guest designer at H&M and create a truly involving experience for everybody. With its mix of couture spirit and streetwear attitude, Balmain owns a unique style, at once opulent and direct, sensual and energetic. It is also closely linked to the show business and music worlds, which adds another element of surprise,” Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor at H&M said in a statement.
Balmain follows in the footsteps of Alexander Wang, Marni and Anna Dello Russo, among others, to team up with the store.
Selling high end designers at affordable prices has been a hit for H&M, and the shop usually sees fashionistas queuing up for hours to get their hands on the collections.
"I want to talk to my generation: this is my main aim as a designer. H&M allows me the unique possibility of bringing everyone into the world of Balmain, get a piece of the dream and create a global #HMBalmaination: a movement of togetherness, fuelled on a hashtag. The collaboration felt extremely natural to me: H&M is a brand that everybody connects to. It calls for unity, and I am all for it,” Olivier explained.
The range will hit 250 stores worldwide and online covering both men and women's clothes and accessories, but price points are yet to be revealed.
Last night models Jourdan Dunn and Kendall Jenner sported pieces from the collection at the Billboard Music Awards, and were joined by Olivier on the red carpet.
Jourdan rocked a typical Balmain look of studded top and red draped skirt, while Kendall looked cool in an embellished dress jacket.
