Gucci got kitsch for Resort

Gucci went lavish with its Resort show yesterday.

The presentation marked creative director Alessandro Michele's second women's ready-to-wear collection for the label, following Frida Giannini's departure from the brand earlier this year.

Not holding back, the Italian fashion house shut down West 22nd Street in New York for the occasion and flew in guests that included actress Dakota Johnson and designers Alexander Wang and Joseph Altuzarra.

As for the clothes, the catwalk was awash with kitsch retro designs in an array of colours.

One model sauntered down the runway in a purple trouser suit with pleated bottoms and a quilted jacket, finishing things off with a green-and-red necktie.

There was also a baby pink coat with green fur trim on offer, which the model paired with calf-length strappy sandals that featured bows.

Model Shaughnessy Brown made her runway debut at yesterday's show, wearing a cobalt blue jacket with a matching skirt, with yellow moccasins and a woolly red hat.

She describes Alessandro as friendly and was amazed by how much effort was made for the occasion.

"I didn’t realise how much goes into a fashion show," she marvelled to

"You don’t really see that when it’s all put together and you’re on the outskirts, but being in the show, you really get to see every single thing. Everyone’s working really hard: you have make-up, you have hair, touch-ups, styling… People are really, really working together to make the final product perfect."

Despite this she describes the vibe as relaxed and says they had a lot of fun backstage.
