Gisele Bündchen confirms catwalk exit
Gisele Bündchen is retiring from the catwalk, her sister has confirmed.
The 34-year-old model had her big break walking for Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer '98 show in London, after which the late designer boosted her bookings by dubbing her the new 'Body'.
Since then she has graced the runway for a host of big labels, from Marc Jacobs to Christian Dior, and by the end of 2012 she boasted 120 Vogue covers to her name.
But it seems the time has finally come for Gisele to take a step back from strutting her stuff on the catwalk, with her sibling Patricia Bündchen explaining in a statement that the star will be more particular about jobs now.
"Gisele will focus on special projects and also spending more time on her number one priority: her family," she confirmed.
The blonde beauty is a mother to son Benjamin and daughter Vivian with husband Tom Brady, as well as looking after the quarterback's little boy John from a previous relationship.
With that said, Gisele's last appearance on the catwalk is thought to be during April's São Paulo Fashion Week in Brazil. She will walk for the brand Colcci and website Moda Estadão recently reported that Gisele chose the event in her home country for her last runway stint to go out in style.
Clearly thinking about her home-life, Gisele recently spoke about her parenting approach and how she aims to keep her offspring respectful and polite.
"I'm very nurturing, I come from a large family and my parents were loving. But the most important thing for me as a mum is to keep my word," she told the British edition of Vogue magazine. "When I say no, I mean no. I always say they have all the time in the world to sit there saying, 'I want it, I want it,' but they are smart, and if I give in to them they know they can get away with it."
