Giles Deacon thrilled with celeb endorsements
Giles Deacon thinks a big celebrity wearing one of his creations is the "most wonderful advert" for him.
The fashion star is known for his bold and playful designs, which have earned him accolades such as British Fashion Designer of the Year and the Young Designer Award.
His gowns are regulars on the red carpet, with famous clients flying across the globe for fittings, and he now estimates that a quarter to a third of his brand is currently made up of made-to-measure ensembles.
"[It's] great complement to the ready-to-wear line. All the pieces always have their own character and flair, and that's what makes them instantly recognisable," he told British newspaper The Guardian.
"[Celebrities wearing my dresses is] the most wonderful advert you can probably get".
The most recent A-lister to wear one of his pieces was Cate Blanchett in Cannes for the premiere of movie Carol earlier this week. She looked stunning in the grey strapless gown, which featured a floor-length ruffled skirt with hints of Technicolor.
Giles was absolutely over the moon with the actress' choice of dress.
"[It was] a huge honour and a privilege... I was waiting at home to see everything start popping up on social media . You never know till you know in this game. The response has been overwhelmingly fantastic," he gushed.
He describes it as a "digital Tudor collage", and the skirt featured a picture of a gallery in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and an image of a pearl Tudor necklace.
"To choose to wear an independent British label and pieces is absolutely fantastic," Giles added. "She's got the pick of the world and she chose us. I couldn't be happier."
