Giles Deacon steals LFW with supermodel show
Giles Deacon wowed London Fashion Week with a catwalk crammed with supermodels last night (22Sep15).
The British designer's Spring/Summer 16 show was a veritable who's who of the fashion world, with most of the industry's top names strutting their stuff.
Among them was Irina Shayk, who is carving out a name for herself as a runway star after also walking for Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenberg during the New York presentations.
Irina stunned in a silver prom dress, which boasted a plunging V neck line and a full skirt with pulled-in waistband. The dress fell to mid calf and was completed with a pair of pink patent ankle-strap shoes and a slick of rose-coloured lipstick.
Also strutting her stuff was Erin O'Connor, who is good friends with Giles and regularly turns out to model his clothes. She stole the show in a black evening gown, which was full length and strapless. The pattern was a dark and moody, gothic floral, with sprays of fabric stretching up towards the model's neck.
A surprise inclusion on the catwalk was Poppy Delevingne, Cara's sister. She is more known for appearing in advertising campaigns, but took the time out from her schedule to sashay in a white combination of skinny, calf-length trousers and matching top. The strappy number came to the waist at the front, but boasted a large bustle falling to the back of the knees.
Other huge names showing off Giles' collection including Alek Wek, Lizzy Jagger and her sister Georgia May, Anna Cleveland, Eva Herzigová, Bella Hadid, Edie Campbell, Andreja Pejic, Dree Hemingway, Lily Donaldson and Karen Elson.
Also showing yesterday was Burberry Prorsum, which attracted a stellar crowd as usual - among them Cara Delevingne and her girlfriend St. Vincent, Sienna Miller, Kate Moss and Suki Waterhouse.
The clothes were as sleek and chic as is expected, with models wearing transparent knee-length dresses, maxi gowns with thigh-high splits and military-look trenches.
London Fashion Week continues today with shows by the likes of Anya Hindmarch, Amanda Wakeley and Marques'Almeida.
