Gigi Hadid: There's no Kendall competition

Gigi Hadid doesn't feel the need to compete with Kendall Jenner.

The 20-year-old model has built a solid friendship with her fellow catwalk favourite. While they've featured at a number of events together, Gigi doesn't feel remotely competitive towards her pal.

"I don't really feel competition like that. Especially in a job like this—we look different, like Hailey [Baldwin] is brunette now. So literally, if they want Kendall [Jenner], they're not going to want someone who looks like me," she explained to the US edition of Harper's Bazaar. "It's completely different. I think friendships are a lot more valuable than one job. If you're going to let it ruin that, then that's stupid."

Gigi was signed to IMG models in 2011 and made her New York Fashion Week debut last year. She has also featured in Sports Illustrated and Vogue, as well as being the face of Guess. But despite her success, she still has moments of disbelief at how her life has turned out.

"A couple days ago I was shooting a project that will come out in a couple months. The photographer was just taking a look at what he had shot so far, and I had to turn around for a moment, and I started tearing up because I just thought, 'This is so crazy that I'm doing this,'" she recalled. "I can't tell you what exactly the shoot was for, but it was just a moment I had. I just had a second and I couldn't control it—it just came out. I was like, 'Holy sh*t, this is my life. No one gets to do this.' It was really cool."

But Gigi doesn't let all the success go to her head. And even if she did, her friends would quickly put her back in her place.

"My friends... just make fun of me all day. That's the best," she smiled. "When they come over while I'm getting ready for a red carpet event in my apartment, they'll just be teasing me, like, 'Oh you're going to do a red carpet, are you?' I love them."
