Gigi Hadid shares top tips for 'working' a bikini
Gigi Hadid believes the secret to looking good in a bikini is to exude confidence.
The American model is no stranger to wearing skimpy swimsuits, having grown up playing volleyball on the beaches of California, and nabbing a spot in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
Though Gigi works out a lot and has a naturally athletic physique, she asserts that no matter shape or size, confidence is what makes a person really look great in well-fitted beach attire.
“Everyone has a different body shape so you kind of have to figure out, not only what works best for your body type, but what also makes you feel confident,” she told Vogue Australia. “Even if everyone thinks you look good in a bikini and you don’t feel good in it, you’re not going to be at your best. If you feel great in a bikini you can always work it.”
The 21-year-old has been a brand representative for Australian swimwear label Seafolly since 2015, following in the footsteps of the likes of Miranda Kerr and Behati Prinsloo. And Gigi was keen to get on board with the brand as soon as the idea was pitched to her, as she feels the company’s values match with her own.
“It was a brand name I already knew and I knew it had so much quality to it,” she explained. “The kind of body image they want to put out and support is aligned with that I want to put out there.”
When it comes to Seafolly’s offerings, Gigi points to colourful one pieces, neoprene zip-tanks, and print bikinis as some of her favourites. But she tends to avoid pale colours or neutrals when she goes poolside, as they can wash out her complexion.
“I think bright colours are always really good because in my opinion because they’re slimming and they bring out your tan, which is also slimming,” smiled Gigi.
