Georgina Chapman's Coachella style
Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman’s most stylish tip for festival dressing is accessorising.
The British fashion star helms Marchesa with Keren Craig, and the two are known for their high end, fairytale-inspired designs. However when heading to America’s recent Coachella festival, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Rihanna and Katy Perry, Georgina went for a more grownup boho vibe.
“I incorporated my aesthetic into my Coachella looks by mixing more casual, wearable pieces,” she smiled to vogue.com. “I definitely wanted to bring statement accessories to go with my separates and daytime dresses. When you are dressing casually, it’s important to accessorise.”
Her looks included a folk-style ruffled dress, a leopard print maxi which showed off her bra and a top adorned with pink flowers. Georgina opted for oversized Valentino sunglasses, jewellery from Boucheron and shoes and bags from her own fashion house.
The annual music festival also served as Georgina’s 40th birthday party.
“What could be better than a carefree weekend outside with great music and even better friends?” she grinned.
Marchesa debuted shoes for the first time last summer (15), a move Georgina called “incredibly exciting” when the footwear finally launched. The news came not long after the brand announced it would also be creating jewellery.
“We’ve always envisioned Marchesa as a lifestyle brand and including a full shoe collection is an important part of that vision,” Georgina previously told WWD. “Customers and retailers alike have requested we expand into footwear so it’s incredibly exciting to have found a partner who can help us fulfil that goal.”
