Gemma Ward walks runway at 15 weeks pregnant

Gemma Ward isn’t letting pregnancy affect her work as a model.

The 28-year-old beauty joined a troupe of models to walk the runway for Australian department store chain David Jones’ spring 2016 showcase at Fox Studios in Sydney on Wednesday night (03Aug16).

Just two weeks after revealing that she and partner David Letts are expecting their second baby, Gemma - who is 15 weeks pregnant - took to the catwalk in a series of looks, including a striped kaftan by Camilla Franks, a black maxi skirt and off-the-shoulder top from Rachel Gilbert, as well as a floral smock and printed leggings by Zimmermann. Most of the outfits were adjusted to fit her blossoming Australian size 14 or U.S. size 10 frame.

Though she’s now in her second trimester, Gemma says she didn’t feel worried about showing off her changing figure next to a coterie of lithe models. “It’s pretty inspiring but at the end of the day, I’m growing a baby and these changes are happening,” she said, according to The Daily Telegraph. “It’s amazing because some of the looks from regular brands go right over the bump and even at the end of this pregnancy I’ll be able to wear them.”

The biannual collection launch featured 236 looks and 57 Australian and international brands.

Relaxed glamour was a key theme, with highlights including body conscious dresses, graphic patterns, metallics, lace, and sporty swimwear.

The Preachers performed during the finale, belting out the tune Is This How You Feel as models strutted past the musicians wearing Zimmermann '60s-inspired hippie dresses.

And Gemma, who has also dabbled in acting, playing an antagonistic mermaid in 2011’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, felt the addition of the live element made the show really memorable.

“The Preachers were amazing and that was my favourite part of the show. It’s really cool to be on the catwalk during a performance and I haven’t had that before,” she smiled.
