Famous last name = instant modelling success
It seems a famous last name is becoming the most fashionable accessory in the modelling industry.
We're not just talking about your Kendall Jenners or Gigi Hadids, who were both reality TV stars along with their families before finding catwalk fame. No; a whole new wave of showbiz offspring and siblings have been making a name for themselves in fashion. We take a look at why a famous last name seems to mean instant modelling success these days.
The 16-year-old daughter of Hollywood heavyweight Johnny Depp and model, singer and actress Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose, was born with both great genes and great connections. The world really started to take notice of the teen in 2015 when Karl Lagerfeld cast her in his A-list casino tableau to showcase Chanel's A/W 15 collection at Paris Fashion Week. 2016 has begun on a high note too, with Lily-Rose covering the front of Love magazine's colourful new issue.
There's no doubt handsome Rafferty is the son of film star Jude Law, with the lucky 19-year-old inheriting his dad's good looks. Since walking the runway for DKNY Men in London in 2014 his style star has been steadily rising, with Rafferty landing campaigns for luxury jewellery brand Effra London, among others.
Starring in a series of black-and-white snaps for Saint Laurent in 2014, Dylan looked even more suave than his dad Pierce Brosnan in his James Bond days. Modelling everything from laidback casuals to sharp suits and bow ties, Dylan is definitely one to watch; despite not taking modelling seriously at first. "Dylan was discovered in Malibu by Hedi Slimane for Yves Saint Laurent while having a cup of coffee," Pierce previously told Details magazine. "This dude came by, took a photograph, and gave Dylan his card. He promptly lost it. The office called a couple weeks later, saying, 'We've been waiting to hear from you.'"
This 20-year-old model bears an uncanny resemblance to his triple Oscar-winning father Daniel Day-Lewis, thanks to his uber-chiselled jaw line and intense stare. He's also a keen musician and singer, but his modelling shots really got people talking. Gabriel-Kane has already starred in major campaigns for Calvin Klein and Galeries Lafayette, as well as walking Julianne Moore down the runway at Chanel's couture casino alongside Lily-Rose Depp.
It seems the name Moss will get you far in the fashion world, as proved by supermodel Kate Moss' little sister Lottie. The 17-year-old has stunned the style world, making her Paris Fashion Week debut in March 2015 for Sonia Rykiel. She's also followed in Kate's footsteps by shooting for Calvin Klein.
While 14-year-old Kaia may not share mum Cindy Crawford's last name, she sure does have her smouldering looks. Despite her young years Kaia is already gearing up to take the fashion world by storm, just like Cindy did in the '80s and '90s.
"She taught me to have a thought behind every single pose," Kaia told Teen Vogue of Cindy's advice. "That way, when you look at the photos afterwards, it feels deeper than just staring at a blank face."
