DSquared2 designers call for colour

DSquared2's Dan and Dean Caten love flashy pops of colour.

The twin brothers are behind the popular label, favoured by the likes of Gwen Stefani, Elizabeth Hurley and Olivia Wilde.

Talking to British Elle magazine for its Final Say feature, the designers have revealed various facts about themselves, including that their tipple of choice is Dom Pérignon and that passion is the most important quality required in their field of expertise.

When asked what their favourite colour is, the siblings went for bold hues.

"We love all colours. However, the brightest and flashiest ones like orange, pink, yellow and green neons are our favourites," they smiled.

Other titbits gleaned from the 50-year-olds included that, for them, style is all about personality and their latest collection focuses on glam, volume and colour

On the subject of their leadership skills, both saw themselves as good bosses.

"We hope so! We are always open to suggestions and very much welcome ideas in our team," they said.

DSquared2 showed off its Autumn/Winter 15 collection at Milan Fashion Week last month, fusing Inuit looks with Native American vibes.

Asked about what keeps them up at night, Dan and Dean agreed it was thinking about work.

"New, creative ideas. We always have something in mind, but at night we are definitely more concentrated," they divulged.

The brothers are now based in London, but have never forgotten their upbringing in Canada.

"I definitely think Canada’s a big influence for us,” Dan previously told WWD. “It’s our little bit of individuality inside [the] fashion industry, so we kind of milk it, and we work it, and it’s ours... We like to wave our flag whenever possible.”
